Hopefully you’ve found this little gem of a blog I’m writing here, obviously you have found it, as you must have found it to be sitting here reading it As many of you know, I’ve had a heart to be a church planter, it’s been my heart, to either lead, or be a part of a church plant, ever since I switched my major somewhere near the end of my freshman year. As the years have progressed, I’ve found myself looking for opportunities, or people I could gather or be a part of for a church plant, seemingly to no avail, until the past month. While here at Liberty, I’ve been running around from time to time, with the local “Liberty Church Planting Crew” basically a bunch of guys who are in seminary looking to start churches some day, going to conferences, small groups, basically doing some networking and building of relationships. Over the past 3 years I had begun to build a relationship with the director of the “CCP” the “Center for Church Planting” at Liberty. An amazing man named Dr. Dave Earley, who actually planted a church in central Ohio and lived in Gahanna for quite some time pastoring New Life Church, before moving to Liberty and heading up the Center for Church Planting and being the chairman of Pastoral Leadership. Dr Earley has been an amazing man and mentor in my life since moving here to Liberty, he has a heart for church planting and raising up future pastors, and until recent past, God has used Dave at Liberty to fulfill his calling to start church and train pastors, by teaching at Liberty. Notice there was an “until, recently” in there. Here’s where I come back in the scene. Dr Earley has been praying for the past year where God is leading him, prayerfully considering God’s calling and mission for his life. God has placed a heavy burden for Las Vegas on his heart. Through various doors opening up, Dr Earley has decided to plant a church in Las Vegas, nestled between UNLV (University of Nevada – Las Vegas) and the notorious “strip”, basically right in the middle of down town Las Vegas. A huge calling on a man’s life. As God has slowly shifted Dave’s eyes from praying about where to praying about who will go, God placed myself on Dave’s heart to ask about being a part of the team.
